Errors of Don Esposito, Randy Folliard, and Jerusalem’s Lost Temple Theory

Randy Folliard with Don Esposito on Uncovering Jerusalem’s Lost Temple (The temple of the Jews in the City of David) Premiered Jun 7, 2019, YAHWEH’S RESTORATION MINISTRY, https://youtu.be/qmrhndo3TaM

To believe this theory would be like believing Moses
communed with God 40 days and nights in a gully.

You cannot reach forth and touch the ark,
let alone move its final resting place.

Most people came to know about this theory through the YouTube video “The LOST TEMPLE Mount- the REAL Location of Solomon’s Temple in the City of David, Jerusalem” by Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry dated Apr 28, 2017, which garnered 2,574,482 views as of 7/19/23. The transcript is here: https://yrm.org/the-lost-temple-mount/ (dated March 14, 2019), and they offer a pdf and a booklet.

Deception #1

Readers should closely examine the above image from their video and website. It shows a superimposed temple over their proposed location down in the City of David.  They completely ignore the size of the temple—it would have fallen into the Kidron Valley.

Deception #2

The following image (top half) is from their website. The arrow indicating the Gihon Spring should be pointing down, not up, implying the spring was near the top of the hill. The image beneath it identifies the true location of Gihon Spring.

Upper Half – Gihon Springs by Don Esposito; Lower Half – its Real Location

Lack of Evidence

Evidence should remain of non-stone items that the Temple Mount Sifting Project has found by the thousands (598,324 as of 7/19/23), which their purported temple location in the City of David lacks. It would not be wise to waste time and energy addressing this untenable position, and that is why no archaeologist has done so except Hillel Richman (Hillel Richman: The True Location of the Temple Mount: Fully Illustrated, Jan 8, 2019)

No Alignment

There’s no alignment with the Eastern Gate, which dates back to the time of Solomon.

Errors

If the Temple Mount is Fort Antonia, why does it have seven gates rather than four?

“The traditional Temple Mount contains the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. Both of these buildings are sacred to Islam. For this reason it’s impossible today for the Jews to build a third temple on the Temple Mount.”

False. The true temple location, as identified by Professor Kaufman, is in the wide expanse just north of the Dome of the Rock Shrine, with the Holy of Holies still being protected by the Dome of Tablets and is ready to be built upon—as it originally was.

“Most believe that Ornan’s threshing floor was under the Dome of Rock on the traditional Temple Mount. The problem is, the rocky floor of the Dome of the Rock is not flat or even. This fact alone makes it highly unlikely this area served as a threshing floor.”

Correct. The true threshing floor is under the Dome of Spirits, and yes, it’s flat.

“The Gihon Spring is just east of the Ophel, which joins the ancient city of David. Knowing that the Gihon is the only major water source in Jerusalem, does it make sense that Israel would have built their temple on the traditional Temple Mount a third of a mile away from their only water source?”

There are, were, and always will be other springs in the area, as many critics of their theory have pointed out. Aqueducts and cisterns dating to Solomon’s time likewise exist despite their assertion they didn’t.

“History says that Rome built aqueducts from Bethlehem to the Temple Mount. While this theoretically could have provided a water source for Herod’s temple, it could not have for Solomon’s. So while there is evidence for ancient reservoirs beneath the traditional Temple Mount dating to the time of Rome, there is no evidence of a water source prior to Rome’s rule. This presents a real problem for the traditional Temple Mount site.”

“The only spring within Jerusalem is the Gihon.”

“These facts present a real problem for those who claim that the temple was on the traditional Temple Mount. The only way to reconcile the accounts from Aristeas, Tacitus, and the Book of Joel [3:18] is to relocate the temple from the traditional Temple Mount to the Ophel, near the Gihon Spring.”

Not One Stone Left on Another – Possibly the greatest evidence for the temple’s real location are in the prophecies spoken by Yahshua the Messiah [Mark 13:1-2].”

“Based on this prophecy and the known facts, how is it possible that the Wailing Wall remains today? There is no satisfactory explanation. Either Yahshua exaggerated or the Temple Mount is not the location of the ancient temple and this wall belongs to something else entirely.”

“How is it possible that no traces of the temple remained if large portions of the foundation and walls of the temple remained? The logical answer is, what is called the Temple Mount today is not the location of the temple.”

Prophetic Impact

“The Bible is clear that a third temple will be rebuilt before Yahshua’s coming…Yahshua in Matthew 24:15 states, “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:).” The phrase “holy place” is an allusion to the Holy of Holies within the temple.”

False. Daniel’s prophecy was fulfilled when the Romans desecrated and destroyed the temple.

“Paul also describes a temple in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4…Paul clearly states here that the son of perdition or anti-messiah will sit in a temple exalting himself as elohim or as a god to be worshiped. Based on this and the two previous accounts, there is little doubt that a third temple will be rebuilt prior to the return of Yahshua the Messiah.”

False. Prophecy readers must use Paul’s temple definition to interpret his temple prophecy, which refers to our bodies and the body of believers as a whole. Temple Mount deniers are proof we’re living in that time. Resurrected King David will return to build the temple and reign over Jerusalem as he once did.
